God of War 3 PS2 release date
Sony just announced, via its PlayStation blog, that gamers who pre-order the new God of War III Remastered will also be able to catch up with the first two God of War games. Sony also released a new video of gameplay footage, showcasing some classic Kratos action in 1080p at 60 frames-per-second. First off, let's check out this new video.
Make sure you put the settings up to max if it doesn't do it automatically for you. The video shows Kratos during the boss battle with Hades, Lord of the Underworld. Hot dang, does that look as good as ever.
For those interested in pre-ordering your copy of God of War III Remastered, you will receive a God of War - Fall of Olympus live PS4 theme. You will also get a 90-day access pass to play God of War and God of War II on PS Now. It looks like it will be two separate rentals, so you get 90 days to play through the first God of War, then another 90 for God of War II.
In case you missed the original announcement, Sony has taken to the PlayStation Blog to announce that God of War III will be the next game getting the Remastered makeover. This comes right around the 10th anniversary of the release of the first God of War game back on the PS2.
God of War III Remastered will be releasing on July 14 of this year. Aside from the obvious upgrades such as boosting the resolution to 1080p and improving graphics and textures, God of War III will feature a photo mode. This mode will act similarly to The Last of Us' photo mode where players can snap a picture of the action taking place on screen. These pictures can then be saved and shared across your social media platform of choice.
The exclusive new God of War statue Sony
Alongside the God of War III Remastered announcement, Sony also unveiled a new and insanely-detailed statue that you can currently put a deposit down on to save one for yourself. Only 1, 250 copies of this 29 inch tall statue are being created, and reserving yours means putting down a $150 deposit. The full price of the statue is $480, and those who put a deposit down will have to pay the additional $330 plus shipping once the statue is available to be shipped. That's one pricy statue, but it sure looks cool.
So why is Sony Santa Monica releasing a remastered God of War III? Perhaps it is to refresh players on the events in the God of War story line and bring in new fans to the franchise in anticipation of a God of War IV that could be getting announced soon. That would certainly make many God of War fans happy to see the franchise finally move forward again after the most recent release, God of War: Ascension.
So what do you think? Will you be picking up a copy of God of War III Remastered when it releases for PS4 on July 14? Are you more interested in seeing a potential God of War IV announced this year? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
